Tyrus McGee Named MVP of YMCA Capital City League

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State's Tyrus McGee was named MVP of the 2012 YMCA Capital City League after helping his team to the 2012 title. McGee poured in 29 points and Georges Niang tallied 27 points, as Patch.com defeated Peak Performance, 99-96 Sunday night in the championship game.

McGee, a senior from Stringtown, Okla., averaged 27.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and shot 51.7 percent from the field in the summer league. He also made 30 treys.

Niang, who will be a true freshman for the Cyclones next year, was honored as the Newcomer of the Year. Niang averaged 30.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and shot 58.0 percent from the floor in nine YCCL games.
