Cyclones.tv: Fred Hoiberg Into NFHS Hall of Fame

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head basketball coach Fred Hoiberg has picked up plenty of awards and honors throughout his distinguished athletic career. He added another prestigious award on July 11 when the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) inducted "The Mayor into its Hall of Fame."

Since 1982, the NFHS has annually honored athletes, coaches, contest officials, administrators and others for their extraordinary achievements and accomplishments in high school athletics. Hoiberg was one of 12 individuals enshrined at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Hoiberg, who was the state of Iowa's top prep performer in both basketball and football during the 1990-91 school year, was enshrined alongside former Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan and former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson. He is now a proud member of a 398-person club, which also includes former Iowa State All-Americans Gary Thompson (2000) and Dan Gable (1984).
