AMES, Iowa - Iowa State earned its fourth straight victory over UNI with a 6-1 final score Friday afternoon at Ames Racquet and Fitness. The Cyclones (7-10, 0-4 Big 12) got out of the gates quickly against the Panthers (6-5, 0-0 MVC) with wins all three doubles matches.
Emma Waites and Caroline Andersen teamed up for a dominate doubles victory, 8-0, over Lindsay Cayton and Trisha Hinke. Simona Cacciuttolo and Meghan Cassens quickly followed up with a victory of their own. The duo of Ksenia Pronina and Jenna Langhorst defeated Chelsea Moore and Jessica King to sweep the doubles point for Iowa State, 8-1.
Emma Waites rounded out her afternoon with another assertive victory, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 5 singles spot for the Cyclones second team point. Waites did not surrender a single game during the dual.
Ksenia Pronina, a sophomore from Dusseldorf, Germany, got a win against Krissy Lankelma, 6-3, 6-1. Ana Gasparovic then secured the victory for Iowa State with a straight set victory against Jessica King, 6-2, 6-0.
Meghan Cassens added to her team high singles victories this season. Cassens got her 14th victory of the season with a, 6-4, 6-2, decision over Chelsea Moore at the No. 3 slot.
Ellie Nixon wrapped up the dual with a straight set victory over Trisha Hinke, 6-0, 6-2.
The Cyclones are back in action next Friday against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma. Play is set to begin at 3 p.m.
