AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior Melvin Ejim has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 Men's Basketball team, selected and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Ejim, a forward from Toronto, Ontario, is one of 40 student-athletes who advanced to the Capital one Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in February.
Ejim, a history major, earned the honor for the second time in his career. He currently has a 3.70 cumulative GPA and is leading the Big 12 averaging 17.9 points per game. He also ranks among the Big 12's top-10 in rebounding, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, offensive rebounding, defensive rebounding and minutes played.
A four-year starter for the Cyclones, Ejim joins Jeff Grayer as the only Cyclones to record 1,000 career points, 800 rebounds and 100 steals. He currently sits 17th in ISU history with 1,342 points and fifth with 890 rebounds. He was the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2013 and a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First-Team honoree.
