AMES, Iowa – The John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's best tight end, released its midseason watch list and Iowa State tight end
E.J. Bibbs has made the cut.
The Mackey Award will announce its semi-finalists on Nov. 17 and the finalists on Nov. 24.
Bibbs, a senior from Chicago, Ill., is having another fantastic season for the Cyclones, leading the team in receptions (22) and touchdowns (four). Bibbs has caught a pass in all 18 games of his Cyclone career, tying for the ninth-longest streak in school history. He's also made multiple catches in 17 of 18 career games.
Bibbs already ranks fourth in career receiving yards (652) and fifth in career receptions (61) by a tight end in school history.
The senior was an All-Big 12 Second-Team selection in 2013 after catching 39 passes, the second-best single-season total by a tight end in school history.
