AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational Friday in Madison, Wisconsin. The event will be held at Wisconsin's Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
The Cyclone women enter the meet ranked No. 8 nationally and hold the top spot in the Midwest. Head coach Andrea Grove-McDonough's squad is coming off a runner-up performance at the Roy Griak Invitational. Crystal Nelson and Katy Moen placed in the top-5 at Griak, leading the team to Flotrack team-of-the-week recognition.
The Iowa State men's team finished fifth at the Roy Griak Invitational, placing before then nationally-ranked No. 24 Texas and No.19 North Carolina. Senior Martin Coolidge placed fifth in the men's 8K, notching the highest individual finish by a Cyclone since 2009.
The invitational is set to the most competitive meet on the Cyclones' regular-season schedule. The women's race will feature 22 nationally ranked teams, and the men's competition will be equally as competitive with 19 top-30 teams.
Competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT with the women's 'A' 6K, followed by the men's 'A' race at 11:45 a.m. B races for both women's and men's fields will follow at 12:30 p.m. and 1:10 p.m., respectively.

*The No. 8-ranked Iowa State women's cross country team is coming off a runner-up performance at the 29th annual Roy Griak Invitational.
*The Cyclone women currently rank No. 1 in the Midwest, holding the region's top spot for seven consecutive weeks dating back to last season.
*The ISU women are one of just five programs nationally to have multiple runners ranked inside the Saucony FloRankings top-25 (Nelson - 8th, Moen - 21st).
*The Iowa State men are currently receiving votes in the national poll and rank at No. 5 in the Midwest.
*The Iowa State women placed two runners in the top-5 at the Griak, as Crystal Nelson and Katy Moen placed third and fourth, respectively.
*Nelson and Moen notched the two-fastest individual 6K performances in Cyclone-Griak history, with Nelson clocking at 20:45 and Moen crossing the line in 20:47. The performances earned the duo national recognition, with Nelson moving up to No. 8 and Moen to No. 21 in the national rankings.
*At Griak, the Iowa State women defeated five nationally ranked programs, along with five more teams receiving votes in the national poll.
*The runner-up team finish and three-four individual finish earned the ISU women recognition as Flotrack's women's team of the week.
*The Iowa State men also put on a strong performance at the Griak meet, finishing fifth and taking down higher-ranked opponents in No. 24 Texas and No. 19 North Carolina.
*Cyclone senior Martin Coolidge was the team's top performer, placing fifth in the men's race with an 8K time of 24:55. Coolidge's 5th-place finish is the highest invididual finish by a Cyclone at the Griak meet since 2009 (Hillary Bor, 2nd).
*The Cyclone women dominated their season opener at the Bulldog 4K Classic, picking up dual victories over in-state rivals Drake, UNI and Iowa.
*Heidi Engelhardt led the Cyclones at the Bulldog meet, taking the individual title in 14:44. The ISU women took the top-4 places at the event, also tacking on a ninth-place finish by Maryn Lowry.
