IRVING, Texas- Twelve members of the Iowa State football team have been named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Conference teams, announced today by the Big 12 Conference.
Senior
Jacob Gannon, a native of Iowa City, Iowa, made an Academic All-Big 12 team for the fourth time, including first-team honors for the third consecutive season. Sophomores
Daniel Burton,
Luke Knott and
Mitchell Meyers garnered first-team honors for the second consecutive season.
Seniors
Matthew Thomas,
Brandon Horbach and
Jared Weaver were recipients of first-team honors, as well as freshman
Jake Campos.
Cyclones earning second-team recognition were
Robby Garcia (Fr.),
Tyler Harmeyer (Sr.),
Brandon Jensen (Sr.) and
Kane Seeley (So.). Seeley was a first-teamer in 2013.
Student athletes received first-team recognition by maintaining a 3.20 or higher GPA while participating in 60 percent of the games. Players who maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher earned second team recognition.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and met all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
