- Iowa State looks to bounce back from its first setback of the season when it hosts Lamar Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones have won 22 games in a row against nonconference opponents at Hilton Coliseum, the 14th-longest streak in the nation.
- The Cyclones are ranked No. 13 in the AP preseason poll, the 21st week in a row in the top-25.
- The Cyclones went 1-1 last week at the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. Iowa State beat Alabama in the semifinals before going ice cold from the field and falling to Maryland in the championship game Tuesday night.
- After shooting a season-high 58 percent against Alabama, the Cyclones shot just 29.7 percent in the loss to Maryland. It was the second-lowest field-goal percentage in Fred Hoiberg's tenure (27.1 percent vs. Missouri, 2011).
- Iowa State is the top free-throw shooting team in the Big 12 at 77.8 percent. In the last three games, ISU is shooting 82.3 percent at the charity stripe. Bryce Dejean-Jones leads the Cyclones hitting 88.9 percent of his attempts, while Georges Niang is just behind him at 88.5 percent.
- Niang scored 28 points in ISU's win against Alabama, his second game with 25 or more points this season (30 vs. Oakland). Niang, who ranks among the top scorers in the league with 19.5 points per game, is averaging a career-best 7.8 rebounds per game.
- Against Alabama, Monté Morris dished out 12 assists and no turnovers. Morris is the only players in school history to record 12 or more assists with no turnovers, and he's done it twice.
- Niang, who is on the Wooden Award Top-50 list and Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List, is one of just five players nationally and the only in a Power-5 league averaging at least 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
- Dejean-Jones has scored in double-figures in three of four games this season and is second on the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game. He sits just 33 points from 1,000 in his collegiate career.
- Dustin Hogue has scored at least 15 points in three of four games and enters the week shooting 58.8 percent from the field.
- Naz Long has connected on a team-high 10 3-pointers this season. The junior has made a three in 12 games in a row.
- ISU has a team assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.8. The Cyclones are averaging 10.3 turnovers per game. Morris leads the Cyclones with an 8.7 assist-to-turnover ratio just a year removed from breaking the NCAA record with a 4.79 assist-to-turnover ratio.
