Cory Morrissey is one of eight Big 12 players nominated for the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
The AFCA Good Works Team is comprised of collegiate football players who make an impact not only on the field but in their communities. Nominees have demonstrated their compassion for others through natural disaster relief efforts and other community service activities. These student-athletes have also demonstrated the exceptional ability to balance academics and athletics.
A voting panel consisting of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members and college football media members will select the 2014 Good Works Team. The final roster of 22 recipients will be revealed in September.
Morrissey, a native of Ames, Iowa, was an honorable mention All-Big 12 pick in 2013 after registering 52 tackles and two sacks. Morrissey also had 6.5 tackles for loss and ranked third nationally in fumble recoveries with three.
Morrissey is on the Lott Impact Award watch list.
