DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's cross country team took home both the individual and team titles this evening at the Bulldog 4K Classic. The Cyclones filled the top-four places at the event. The men's squad notched two top-10 performances on the evening.
Heidi Engelhardt paced the women's squad, winning the 4-kilometer race in 14 minutes, 44 seconds. Close on her heels, Julie Wiemerslage took second in 14:45 and Taylor McDowell placed third in 14:46. Colleen Riley took fourth overall, clocking a time of 14:50. A ninth-place finish by Maryn Lowry (15:13) put five Cyclones inside the race's top-10 finishers.
The women's squad posted a 29-second spread among scoring runners, and all seven Cyclones placed in the top-25.
Two Cyclone men notched top-10 finishes, as Tyler Jermann and Brian Llamas placed third and seventh, respectively. Jermann led the scoring effort with a time of 12:33, as Llamas finished with a time of 12:45.
The men's squad clocked a spread of 1 minute, 50 seconds across scoring runners.
Next Time Out
The Cyclones return to the course Aug. 27, as the teams travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational.
