AMES, Iowa - For the first time in 2014, the Iowa State volleyball team will leave Hilton Coliseum, making the short drive to Minneapolis to take part in the Diet Coke Classic this weekend. The tournament, hosted by the University of Minnesota, starts on Friday with ISU taking on Milwaukee at 4:30 p.m. in the Sports Pavilion. Saturday features a doubleheader for the Cyclones as they start out with Tulsa at noon, followed by taking on the No. 19 Minnesota Golden Gophers at 7 p.m.

Cyclone Headlines
- Iowa State leaves the friendly confines of Hilton Coliseum for the first time this season, making the short trip North to Minneapolis for the Diet Coke Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota. ISU will start out on Friday with a 4:30 PM match against Milwaukee, followed by a Saturday doubleheader against Tulsa at noon, and then hosts and No. 19 Minnesota at 7 PM.
- The Cyclones took care of business last weekend in the Iowa State Challenge at Hilton Coliseum, earning three sweeps in three nights over Omaha, Tennessee and Northern Illinois.
- Ciara Capezio was the star for the Cyclones last weekend, leading the Iowa State attack with 4.22 kills per set at a .386 hitting percentage. The sophomore's 3.80 kills per set on the season ranks third in the Big 12.
- Libero Caitlin Nolan finished the Iowa State Challenge with 5.11 digs per set and six service aces. Nolan, who ranks in the top-five in both categories in the Big 12, is second in the conference with her 5.33 digs per match. She was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season for her efforts in the AVCA Showcase.
- Alexis Conaway had a breakout weekend for Iowa State, recording 2.00 kills per set at a .342 hitting percentage and 14 total blocks at 1.56 blocks per set. Conaway ranks among the Big 12's top-10 in blocking.
- Iowa State has appeared in the previous eight NCAA Volleyball Championships, one of 15 programs in the nation to acheive that feat.
- The Cyclones have two student-athletes on the All-Big 12 Preseason team in junior right-side hitter Mackenzie Bigbee and senior outside hitter Victoria Hurtt.
- Iowa State's two losses in 2014 have come to two of the top squad's in the country. Stanford is now the No. 1 team in the country after its victory over Penn State last weekend, and Florida State has moved up to No. 7 after picking up a five-set win over Florida and a victory over previously No. 24 American.
