- Iowa State looks to avenge Saturday's non-conference loss to South Carolina when it hosts Oklahoma State Tuesday at Hilton Coliseum. Both games between the Cyclones and Cowboys went to overtime last season, with ISU winning in Stillwater in triple OT and at home in the first overtime.
- ISU is 8-10 in Big 12 openers, but 5-3 in home Big 12 openers. Under Fred Hoiberg, ISU is 2-2 in league openers. This will be the first time opening conference play at home since 2012.
- The Cyclones are ranked No. 17 in the AP poll, their school-record 27th week in a row in the top-25.
- Iowa State looks to bounce back from a cold-shooting night against South Carolina. The Cyclones lead the Big 12 shooting 49.4 percent from the field. - In its two losses this season, the Cyclones have shot 32.2 percent from the field and 15.6 percent behind the arc. In wins, ISU has shot 52.9 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from 3-point range.
- Iowa State, which leads the Big 12 in scoring with 82.4 points per game, has three of the top-10 scorers in the Big 12. The Cyclones average 3.5 points more per game than the second-highest scoring team in the league (West Virginia). Georges Niang (15.6) is fifth, Bryce Dejean-Jones is sixth with 14.1 points per contest and Naz Long is ninth with 13.3 points. Dejean-Jones is third in shooting, connecting on 55.6 percent of his shots, while Niang is sixth shooting 49.2 percent from the field.
- Long has been ISU's top 3-point threat connecting on 37 3-pointers. Long is shooting 42.0 percent from long distance and has hit a three in 20 games in a row dating back to last season. Long leads the Big 12 and ranks in the top-25 nationally with 3.1 threes per game. Only Dedric Willoughby (3.78, 1997) has averaged more than 3.3 threes per game in a season.
- The Cyclones have reaped the benefits of the addition of Jameel McKay. McKay became eligible on Dec. 20 and has fit right in, averaging 11 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. McKay has posted career highs in each of the last two games, including 15 points against South Carolina. He's shooting 65 percent from the field.
- Dustin Hogue is averaging 11.3 points per game and shooting 58.6 percent from the field, which is second in the league.
- Monté Morris continues his stellar play at point guard. The Cousy Award watch list member is leading the Big 12 with 5.5 assists (41st nationally) and a 5.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (1st). He's got 63 assists and just 11 turnovers. Morris has also shown his defensive prowess with a team-high 20 steals.
ISU has a Big 12-best team assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.6 (3rd nationally). The Cyclones are averaging 11.5 turnovers per game compared to 18.9 assists. ISU has assisted on 65.4 percent of its field goals.

Last time out - Cyclones Go Cold In Loss To South Carolina
- Iowa State had its second-worst shooting night of the season and its worst from 3-point range in a 64-60 loss to South Carolina Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The 60 points marked ISU's lowest offensive output since scoring 51 points at Texas Tech on Jan. 23, 2012.
- ISU shot just 35.1 percent in the game, including 25.9 percent in the second half...the Cyclones made just 1-of-18 3-pointers...Naz Long's three with 48 seconds left was ISU's only of the game and kept the Cyclones' streak of 244 games with a three alive.
- Jameel McKay continued his strong play with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 28 minutes off the bench...Dustin Hogue also had 15 points and Morris and Niang were in double digits with 10 points.
- ISU trailed by as many as 12 in the first half before cutting the deficit to one at halftime.
- The Cyclones were 19-of-33 at the charity stripe...McKay went 7-of-10 at the line after entering the game 0-for-6.
- ISU matched a season-low with eight assists in the loss (Maryland).
Series Notes vs. Oklahoma State
- Oklahoma State leads the all-time series vs. Iowa State at 63-56...ISU leads the series in Ames, 36-14...Fred Hoiberg is 4-3 as a head coach against the Cowboys with the seven games being decided by 4.6 points per game...three of the games have went to overtime.
- ISU swept the season series last season with a triple OT (98-97) win in Stillwater, ISU's first victory at OSU since 1988, and a 85-81 OT win in Ames.
Naz Long was the hero of both games, hitting a three in the second OT in Stillwater to send it to a third OT and then hitting another to send the game at Hilton Coliseum to OT.
- OSU head coach Travis Ford played against ISU for two different teams in his collegiate career. As a freshman at Missouri in 1989-90, Ford scored 10 and nine points, respectively, in his two games vs. ISU. He later transferred to Kentucky, where he played against ISU in the 1992 NCAA Tournament. He played four minutes in the game, but did not score.
- Niang has averaged 18.3 points per game in four career contests against the Cowboys.
- Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg was 2-9 vs. Oklahoma State in his ISU playing career from 1992-95. Hoiberg averaged 14.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in his career vs. the Cowboys. His top scoring game vs. OSU was 20 points on Feb. 15, 1995.
