AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team has won three of its first four Big 12 matches in 2015, but a big challenge awaits this weekend. The Cyclones travel to Lawrence to take on No. 10 Kansas, who enters the match atop the Big 12 with a perfect 16-0 record, and 4-0 mark in conference play. First serve between ISU and KU at the Horejsi Center will be at 4 p.m.
Tickets to the match may be purchased on the day of the match at the Horejsi Center Ticket Office. Due to the high demand for tickets to the match, online ticket sales have been suspended. However, there will be a limited number to tickets sold the day of the match at the Horejsi Center. Fans interesting in attending the match are encouraged to arrive early to beat the lines for tickets.
Saturday's match will be streamed live on ESPN3, availability of which is determined based on your internet service provider. - The Iowa State volleyball team tackles its third road match in four Saturday when the Cyclones travel to Lawrence to take on the Big 12 leaders in undefeated, No. 10 Kansas at 4 p.m.
- The Cyclones head into the match having won three of their first four Big 12 matches in 2015, the latest victory being a sweep of Kansas State Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum.
- The match between ISU and K-State was a defensive struggle, as the teams combined for 146 digs. Iowa State prevailed by holding the Wildcats to a .099 hitting percentage on the evening via 77 digs and 9.5 total blocks.
- ISU's defensive effort was led by Caitlin Nolan, with the All-American recording 28 digs on the evening. She now has five of the nine highest single-match dig outputs in the Big 12 in 2015. Nolan leads the Big 12 and ranks fourth nationally with 5.91 digs per set.
- In the match, Nolan had a pair of sets with at least 10 digs, recording 11 digs in the second set and 10 in the third frame. This season, she has eight sets with at least 10 digs and 18 career sets in double figures.
- For the third-straight match, Morgan Kuhrt led the ISU offense. The redshrit junior, playing on the right side, recorded nine kills to go with five digs and three block assists.
- Kurht had previously seen most of her playing time as a defensive specialist out of the back row but had a busy week on offense as the right side last week. Prior to her 11-kill effort at Texas, Kuhrt led ISU with 17 kills at a career-high .467 hitting percentage at Oklahoma.
- ISU boasts a dynamic one-two punch at middle blocker in sophomores Samara West and Alexis Conaway. West ranks third on the Cyclones with her 2.36 kills per set and leads the Big 12 and ranks 11th in the NCAA with her .433 hitting percentage.
- Alexis Conaway, a sophomore middle blocker, had ISU's best blocking performance of the season against K-State, posting six total blocks on the evening (one solo, five assists). She leads ISU with her 0.89 blocks per set, and leads the Big 12 with 1.31 blocks per set in conference play.
