AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior linebacker
Jordan Harris received national honors this week for his performance in the Cyclones' 24-0 shutout victory over Texas on Saturday.
Harris was honored as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Clarksdale, Miss., Harris had seven tackles, 0.5 TFL and recorded his first career interception to help Iowa State notch just its third shutout against a Big 12 opponent in school history.
Harris, who has 49 tackles while starting all eight games this year, was a key member of ISU's group defensive effort on Saturday which held the Longhorns to just 204 yards of total offense. That total is the third-lowest a Cyclone team has surrendered vs. a Big 12 opponent in school history.
Texas ran only nine plays in ISU territory, seven of them coming on its final drive.
Iowa State's win was the first against the Longhorns in Jack Trice Stadium and improved ISU to 2-3 in league play, tying for fifth in the Big 12 standings.
