Iowa State Hosts New Orleans Sunday

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team (1-1) takes on New Orleans (1-1) on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. Sunday's game will be Iowa State's final game before heading to Cancun, Mexico, for a three-game tournament against Texas State, Duke and Idaho from Nov. 26-28. Sunday's game will air on Cyclones.tv.

Cyclone Headlines
- Iowa State returns home to host New Orleans on Sun., Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. as Iowa State looks to rebound after suffering its first loss against the Drake Bulldogs last Sunday in Des Moines. The Cyclones are 3-1 all-time against the Southland conference.
- Bridget Carleton earned the first Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor after averaging 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds against Hampton and Drake. Carleton broke the freshman record for most points in a career debut with 28 against Hampton.
- Seanna Johnson tallied the 15th double-double of her career and second of the season against Drake with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Both Johnson and Carleton have grabbed two-straight double-doubles to kick off the season. Johnson's 15 career double-doubles ranks her in the top-50 in the country for active career double-doubles.
- Iowa State was selected to finish fourth in Big 12 play, which is its highest preseason selection since the 2008-09 season. Iowa State has either met or exceeded the Big 12 Coaches preseason Poll projection every season since 2002-03. Iowa State was selected behind just Baylor, Texas and Oklahoma.
- Senior Kidd Blaskowsky has netted 171 career 3-pointers, which ranks 21st in the nation among active career leaders.
- After Carleton's Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor, Iowa State has had eight different freshmen earn the honor while no other Big 12 school has had more than four.
Buckley is one of just eight student-athletes in the nation to average 40 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the charity stripe in their last season of competition. She is currently shooting 41.5 percent from long range in her career, which ranks fourth in school history.
- Johnson closed out the 2014-15 season ranked first in the Big 12 Conference with 9.2 rebounds per game. Johnson recorded 15 double-figure rebounding games during the season. Her 285 rebounds broke the sophomore record for rebounds in a single season. She also surpassed her total of 250 rebounds from last season, which was the second-most of any ISU freshman. Johnson's superb first two seasons off the glass made her the fastest Cyclone to notch 500 career rebounds, accomplishing the feat in just 59 career games.
- The 2015-16 season marks the 21st in the tenure of Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, which is the most of any Big 12 team since 1997. Fennelly boasts a 435-207 record at Iowa State and a 601-259 record in his 27-year career as a head coach. His 601 career wins lists him in the top-20 in the NCAA among active coaches.
