Rotich Leads ISU at Cross Country Championships

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – The Iowa State women's cross country team wrapped up the 2015 season by finishing 24th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park Saturday morning. The Cyclone effort was led by redshirt junior Perez Rotich, who just missed out on All-America honors in 42nd place in 20:27.9.
The Cyclones, who earned qualification via their second place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional a week ago, had Rotich as their leader on the day. The Big 12 champion was the Cyclones' top runner throughout the entire race as she fought her way up the crowded field throughout the race. While her 42nd place finish led ISU, it just missed out on the top-40 and All-America honors.
ISU's second runner was once again Erin Hooker, with the Big 12 runner-up crossing the line in 151st place in 21:12.7. The rest of the Cyclone scoring team came within 11 spots of each other, with Andrea Toppin crossing in 182nd (21:26.3), Kate DeSimone in 186th (21:28.2) and Abby Caldwell in 193rd (21:34.2).
The Cyclones also had Evelyne Guay cross in 206th (21:43.0) and Maryn Lowry finish 241st (22:20.7).
