AMES, Iowa – It was a great day for Iowa State Athletics.
Iowa State President Dr. Steven Leath and Athletics Director Jamie Pollard formally announced Matt Campbell as the 32nd head football coach in Iowa State history.
As the youngest “power 5” coach at 36 years old, Campbell is a rising star in the coaching profession, leading Toledo to a 35-15 record in his four seasons as head coach.
After taking over the Toledo program for its bowl game in the 2011, Campbell has produced three nine-win campaigns, including a 9-2 mark this year where the Rockets were ranked in the AP top-25 for the majority of the season.
The Rockets defeated two “power 5” teams for the first time in school history this year with victories over Arkansas and Iowa State.
