Iowa State Celebrates December Graduates
12.18.2015 | Student-Athlete Development OLD
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Student-Athlete Development hosted its graduation luncheon today for Cyclone student-athletes receiving their diplomas this weekend.
Graduation week is always a special time of year. Earning a degree from Iowa State is an outstanding achievement and it's something Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard tells each incoming student-athlete when they step foot on campus for the first time.
"We'll be really ecstatic if you win conference championships, national championships or if you win multiple awards, but what will make us the proudest is the day that you walk across the stage here," Pollard told the recent graduates. "That is the most important award that you can receive."
One of Iowa State's December graduates is two-time national champion and seven-time All-American middle distance runner Edward Kemboi. It will be a special weekend for the Eldoret, Kenya, native. His father, Ernest, made his first trip to the United States to be with his son to celebrate earning his diploma.
Congratulations to the 2015 Cyclone graduates!
