- Iowa State looks to improve on its best start to conference play since the 2000-01 season. The Cyclones enter Monday night's contest with a 6-2 record in league play, having won their last two games. Three of ISU's next four games are against teams ranked in the top 25.
- The Cyclones are looking for their first regular season sweep of Kansas since the 2000-01 season.
- The Cyclones are ranked No. 15 in the AP poll, their school-record 30th week in a row in the top-25.
- Iowa State's seven conference games have been decided by 41 total points, an average of 5.9 points per game, following its 17-point win against TCU Saturday. In the last two seasons, ISU is 10-3 in conference games decided by six or fewer points or in overtime.
- Iowa State is one of the top offensive teams in the nation. The Cyclones are the Big 12's top scoring team and 14th nationally at 80.3 points per game. ISU's 49.1 percent field goal shooting also leads the conference and is 18th nationally. The 49.1 percent field-goal percentage is the best by a Cyclone team since the 1993-94 team shot 49.4 percent.
- Georges Niang (15.8) leads ISU and is fourth in the Big 12 in scoring. Bryce Dejean-Jones is eighth with 12.8 points per contest and another starter, Naz Long, is tied for 15th with 11.7 points, Dustin Hogue and Monté Morris, are also in the top-20 averaging 11.1 points per game. ISU is one of six teams nationally with five players averaging double figures.
- In Iowa State's eight conference games the team has had six different leading scorers. Only Long and Niang have led the Cyclones in scoring in multiple games in conference play. The Cyclones have had eight different players lead them in scoring this season.
- Long has been ISU's top 3-point threat connecting on 52 3-pointers. He is shooting 41.3 percent from long distance and is third in the Big 12 with 2.6 threes per game.
- Morris continues his stellar play at point guard. The Cousy Award watch list member is leading the Big 12 with 5.7 assists (25th nationally) and a 5.1 assist-to-turnover ratio (1st). He's got 113 assists and just 22 turnovers. Morris has also shown his defensive prowess with a team-high 33 steals. Morris is averaging 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists in the last six games.
- Jameel McKay has been a difference maker for the Cyclones, bringing energy on both ends of the floor. He's averaging 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He's shooting 56.9 percent from the field and has 24 blocks in the last 10 games. His 2.4 blocks in conference games is third in the league.
- ISU is first nationally in assists (17.8 per game). The Cyclones have a Big 12-best team assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.6 (5th nationally). ISU, which is averaging just 11.3 turnovers per game, has assisted on 62.7 percent of its field goals.

Series Notes vs. Kansas
- Kansas leads the all-time series against Iowa State at 176-61 and has a 90-15 lead in games played in Lawrence...the Cyclones are responsible for three of KU's nine home Big 12 losses since the league was formed in 1996-97.
- ISU beat Kansas, 86-81, on Jan. 17 at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones had six players in double figures, led by Naz Long's 20 points...ISU hit 9-of-20 threes...ISU had a 21-10 edge in fast break points...Morris had his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 assists to go along with seven boards and three steals.
- ISU head coach Fred Hoiberg's first win over a ranked opponent as the Cyclone mentor came against Kansas on Jan. 28, 2012 in Ames.
- Niang and KU's Wayne Selden, Jr. both attended Tilton School in New Hampshire.
- Hoiberg averaged 17.4 points and 6.1 rebounds in nine games vs. KU in his Cyclone career (1992-95), going 4-5 vs. KU as a player.
- Hoiberg is 3-8 vs. KU as head coach, owning a 7-9 overall record against the Jayhawks as a player and coach.
