@CycloneMBB Notebook
- Iowa State looks to correct its road woes when it travels to Oklahoma State for a Wednesday showdown. Since winning its Big 12 road opener, ISU has dropped four road games in a row, three of which came to nationally ranked teams. ISU is in the midst of four of its final six games coming on the road.
- The Cyclones are ranked No. 14 in the AP poll, their school-record 33rd week in a row in the top-25.
- The Cyclones' triple-OT win in Stillwater last season was its first there since 1988.
- As has been the case since Fred Hoiberg took over the program, Iowa State is one of the top offensive teams in the nation. The Cyclones are the Big 12's top scoring team and ninth nationally at 80.0 points per game. ISU's 49.1 percent field goal shooting also leads the conference and is ninth nationally. Their field-goal percentage is the best by a Cyclone team since the 1993-94 team shot 49.4 percent.
- Georges Niang (14.7) leads ISU and is fourth in the Big 12 in scoring. Bryce Dejean-Jones is 10th with 12.5 points per contest and Naz Long is 16th with 11.4 points. Long battled a hip pointer and played just 12 minutes against WVU and was held scoreless for the first time in 32 games. ISU is the only team in the nation with six players scoring in double figures.
- Jameel McKay has been a difference maker for the Cyclones, bringing energy on both ends of the floor. McKay broke into the starting lineup against Texas Tech and hasn't looked back. He's averaged a team-high 15 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks since joining the starting lineup. He's hit 17-of-22 field goals (77.3 percent) in the three games. McKay has 34 blocks in 15 games. Before McKay entered the lineup, ISU had 26 blocks as a team in nine games.
- Long has been the top 3-point threat connecting for the Cyclones, who hit 14 threes last Monday at OU. Long has hit 61 3-pointers, just three shy of his total from last year and the 19th-most in a single season for Iowa State. He is shooting 41.5 percent from long distance and is second in the Big 12 with 2.5 threes per game. Long has 130 career threes, 125 of which have come in the last two seasons. Long hit a pair of huge threes against OSU last season. The first came in Stillwater when he drilled a three to send it to triple-OT and the second came at home when he hit another to send it to overtime.
- Monté Morris, a Cousy Award watch list member, is leading the Big 12 with 5.5 assists (30th nationally) and a 4.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (1st). He's posted 131 assists and just 28 turnovers. Since the start of last season, Morris leads all active Big 12 players with 89 steals after having three Saturday against WVU.
- ISU is fourth nationally in assists (17.4 per game). The Cyclones have a Big 12-best team assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5 (seventh nationally). ISU, which is averaging just 11.6 turnovers per game, has assisted on 61.2 percent of its field goals.
- Three ISU players rank among the Big 12's top-six field-goal shooters: Dejean-Jones (3rd, 52.4), Morris (4th, 50.0) and Niang (6th, 46.3). Dustin Hogue is shooting 59.1 percent but doesn't meet FG minimums.
