@CycloneMBB Notebook
- Iowa State looks to rebound from a loss to Baylor Monday night at home when it travels to Kansas Saturday. The Cyclones have won their last two road games and are looking to win three consecutive Big 12 road games for the first time since 2005.
- The Cyclones have won 20 games and 10 conference games for the fourth consecutive season for the first time in school history. A win against KSU would match ISU's Big 12 win total from last season with two games remaining.
- The Cyclones are ranked No. 12 in the AP poll, their school-record 34th consecutive week in the top-25. ISU's 15 wins against top-25 teams in the last two seasons are the most in the nation.
- As has been the case since Fred Hoiberg took over the program, Iowa State is one of the top offensive teams in the nation. ISU is the only team nationally with six players averaging double figures. The Cyclones are the Big 12's top scoring team and 11th nationally at 79.4 points per game. ISU's 48.4 percent field goal shooting also leads the conference and is 15th nationally. Their field-goal percentage is the best by a Cyclone team since the 1993-94 team shot 49.4 percent.
- Despite a 6-for-24 3-point performance against Baylor, ISU is shooting 40 percent behind the arc the last five games.
- Matt Thomas has been ISU's hottest player the last two games, averaging 15 points and shooting 66.7 percent from the field. Thomas has made 7-of-11 threes in those two games. He scored a career-high 17 points at Texas and followed with 13 against Kansas State. Thomas has been in double figures eight times this season off the bench.
- Jameel McKay, who is this week's Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, has been a difference maker for the Cyclones, bringing energy on both ends of the floor. ISU is 4-2 since he broke into the starting lineup against Texas Tech. He's leading the team with 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.2 blocks as a starter. McKay scored a career-high 21 points against Baylor. Before McKay (45 blocks) entered the lineup, ISU had 26 blocks as a team in nine games.
- Georges Niang (14.6) leads ISU and is fourth in the Big 12 in scoring. Bryce Dejean-Jones is 11th with 12.1 points per contest and Naz Long is 20th with 10.9 points. On Thursday, Niang was named a finalist for the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
- Long has been the top 3-point threat connecting for the Cyclones, who are averaging 8.8 made threes the last five games. Long has hit 65 3-pointers, the 14th-most in a single season for Iowa State. He is shooting 41.7 percent from long distance and is second in the Big 12 with 2.4 threes per game. Long has 134 career threes, 129 of which have come the last two seasons.
- Monté Morris, a Cousy Award finalist, is leading the Big 12 with 5.4 assists (27th nationally) and a 4.6 assist-to-turnover ratio (1st). He's posted 147 assists and just 32 turnovers. Since the start of last season, Morris leads all Big 12 players with 91 steals.
- ISU is sixth nationally in assists (17.0 per game). The Cyclones have a Big 12-best team assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5 (sixth nationally). ISU, which is averaging just 11.4 turnovers per game, has assisted on 60.7 percent of its field goals.
