The Cyclones started out strong, earning the doubles point over K-State. Senior Meghan Cassens and junior Ana Gasparovic won at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, while junior Alejandra Galvis and senior Caroline Andersen earned a win at No. 3, 6-1.
The Wildcats fought back in singles play, earning four wins to clinch the match. At No. 1 singles, sophomore Samantha Budai fell 6-3, 6-2 to Carolina Costamagna. Sophomore Natalie Phippen fell at No. 4 to Maria Panaite with a score of 6-1, 6-0. Cassens was defeated at No. 3, 7-5, 6-3, while Galvis fell at No. 4 to Livia Curnu, 7-6(4), 6-4.
Senior Ksenia Pronina and junior Ana Gasparovic both left matches unfinished in the third set. Gasparovic was defending a second-set loss to Amina St. Hill, while Pronina was attempting a comeback from a first-set loss.
The match was the conclusion of the Cyclones' season, while Kansas State will move ahead to take on No. 1 seeded Baylor on Friday.
