AMES, Iowa – For the second time in as many seasons, Iowa State sophomore Monté Morris led the nation with a 4.63 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Morris, a Flint, Michigan, native, dished out 176 assists and committed just 38 turnovers this season. Morris, who averaged a team-high 33.9 minutes per game recorded nine games without a turnover. He increased his scoring to 11.9 points and also grabbed 3.4 rebounds to go along with 5.2 assists per game. Morris was an All-Big 12 Second-Team honoree.
As a freshman, Morris broke the NCAA record with a 4.79 assist to turnover ratio. In his career, the 6-2 guard has 310 assists and 66 turnovers. He now owns the first and third-best single-season marks in NCAA history.
This marks the third consecutive season that an Iowa State player has led the nation in a statistical category after not doing so for the first 107 years in program history. Tyrus McGee led the nation shooting 46.4 percent on 3-point field goals in 2013.
