AMES, Iowa – A number of magazines have come out with their preseason all-conference teams and a handful of Cyclones have been mentioned.
Phil Steele's College Football Preview lists five Cyclones on its preseason All-Big 12 teams in wide receiver Allen Lazard (2nd team), punter Colin Downing (2nd team), cornerback Nigel Tribune (3rd team), offensive lineman Daniel Burton (4th team) and linebacker Luke Knott (4th team).
Sporting News issued a preseason first-team all-Big 12 squad and Tribune was named as a defensive back.
Tribune also joined Athlon's third-team all-conference list along with Lazard, wide receiver Quenton Bundrage and offensive lineman Jake Campos.
Player Profiles
Lazard (So.): Named to the Big 12 Honorable Mention All-Freshman team, Lazard had an outstanding rookie season in 2014, ranking second on the team in receptions (45) and receiving yards (593). He was the only Cyclone to catch a pass in all 12 games.
Downing (So.): Named to ESPN.com's Big 12 All-Underclassmen team in 2014, Downing was another fantastic rookie for the Cyclones a year ago. Downing took over punting duties as a true freshman, averaging 39.4 yards per punt with nine 50-yarders.
Tribune (Jr.): Entering his third season as one of ISU's corners, Tribune has started 21 games the last two seasons. Tribune was a second-team All-Big 12 pick by the Associated Press in 2014, recording 64 tackles and three interceptions.
Burton (Jr.): Burton has been a mainstay on the ISU offensive line, starting 20 games the last two seasons, including all 12 at right guard in 2014. Burton was one of only four players on the roster to start all 12 games last season, earning ESPN.com's Big 12 All-Underclassman team honors.
Knott (Jr.): Despite suffering injuries in his first two seasons, Knott has started 13 games at linebacker in that span. He was third on the team in tackles last season with 74.
Bundrage (Sr.): Bundrage was poised for a productive junior season in 2014 after posting outstanding numbers in 2013, however a knee injury suffered on ISU's first offensive series ended his season. In 2013, Bundrage led the team in catches (48) and receiving yards (676), and his nine TD snares tied ISU's single-season mark.
Campos (So.): Campos showed much promise in his debut season with the Cyclones, starting the final 11 games of his rookie campaign in 2014. Campos joined Lazard and Kamari Cotton-Moya as one of three Cyclone rookies to start at least 10 games last season.
