AMES, Iowa – The sixth annual Ride To Remember took place this afternoon, as over 400 motorcycle riders revved their engines in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Iowa State head football coach
Paul Rhoads and his wife Vickie have been strong advocates in raising awareness for Alzheimer's disease since Rhoads lost his mother, Mary, to complications of Alzheimer's in 2011.
“I lost my mother to this horrible disease and we started this event before she passed,” Rhoads said. “It's certainly very personal to everybody in my family. This is a disease that has no cure. That's a fight I like to wage and we are going to make a difference.”
Proceeds of the event go to the Alzheimer's Association of Iowa.
