AMES, Iowa – Sports are still available in Iowa State volleyball's Setter/Libero Camps from July 8-10. Setter camp is on July 8-9 and focuses on hand position and footwork. Libero camp will take place July 9-10 and focus on passing and defense in an effort to improve back row skills. These camps are open for grades 5 and up and campers can sign up for both at a discounted rate.
Setters will get the opportunity to train with ISU head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch, a two-time All-American and national champion during her playing career at Nebraska who has transitioned into coaching by helping train a pair of setters to All-America honors in her time coaching the Cyclones.
The setting portion of this camp is designed to give individual setting instruction to each player according to hand position, footwork, tempo, and accuracy. More advanced setters will also work on decision making and strategy relative to setting at a high level.
Iowa State has had tremendous success at the libero position during Johnson-Lynch's tenure, and campers will have the opportunity to learn from those who have created and benefitted from the success. Campers will have the opportunity to learn from the coaching staff and student-athletes that have produced the last seven Big 12 Libero of the Year winners. Among those is 2014 Big 12 Libero of the Year Caitlin Nolan, who will be working the camp.
The libero camp focuses on passing and defense helpful for all players at any level looking to improve upon their ball handling skills. Drills will address specific technique and game-like play while giving individual feedback and instruction.
Spots are also available for the All Skills Gold camp from July 14-16.
