AMES, Iowa – For most volleyball coaches the end of the spring volleyball season brings forth a much needed break before kicking into gear for the next recruiting period and prep for the 2015 season to come in August. For Iowa state head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch, there has been no rest for the weary.
After overseeing a successful spring season for her Cyclones, Johnson-Lynch has been busy, having been inducted into a pair of Hall of Fames and was a feature speaker at the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Spring Conference.
Johnson-Lynch is now a member of the Millard North High School Hall of Fame and the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame. Her prep career for the Mustangs saw her earn all-state honors twice and lead Millard North to a 1990 Class A state championship, and become captain of the U.S. Junior National elite team. She would return to her alma mater to be the team's head coach for a season before beginning her career as a college coach at Wisconsin.
After her career at Millard North, Johnson-Lynch went on to Nebraska, where she brought the Cornhuskers their first volleyball national title in 1995 en route to earning First-Team All-America honors.

The Cyclone head coach, who will become the acting president of the AVCA in 2016, presented on setter training. Among the other presenters alongside Johnson-Lynch were Stanford head coach John Dunning, former Florida State head coach Cecile Reynaud and 19-time NCAA champion as head coach of UCLA's men's program Al Scates.
Johnson-Lynch will be back on the road this week as part of Iowa State's Tailgate Tour, which starts tomorrow in Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids. Johnson-Lynch is back on the tour this year after missing most of last year's tour due to the volleyball team's trip to Europe. For more information about the Tailgate Tour, click here.
