AMES, Iowa – Behind the scenes, it takes an army to help pull off all the little things that make a home athletics event special. Whether it be having high-quality television coverage, or having a public address announcer in tune with the match and the environment, every detail counts in helping make a good event a great event.
For Saturday's match against North Dakota, the Iowa State volleyball operation had some special helpers. Through the Jr. Cyclone Club's "Kids Take Hilton" promotion, three JCC members had the opportunity to chance to experience an Iowa State volleyball match behind the scenes. Their experience was a great success.
Trent joined the Cyclones.TV on-air crew, joining play-by-play Karl Schloerke and color analyst Sarah Ramundt. Trent got to co-host the match, watching from teh announcing booth and also seeing the Cyclones.TV network production set up. Schloerke gave Trent two thumbs up for his performance.
Grant spent his afternoon in the Cyclones.TV production room, helping the crew decide what should go up on the video board inside Hilton Coliseum. Grant then headed out to the arena and got to run one of the camers.
Finally, Addie joined PA announcer John Burnett-Larkins as the voice of Hilton Coliseum for the match. Addie was responsible for introducing promotions during breaks in the action and other important announcements.
Overall, everyone appreciated the help that they gave the crews, and hope the Jr. Cyclone Club members enjoyed their experiences.
