Jacobson Building Open On Gameday For Cyclone Fans
11.14.2016 | Athletics
AMES, Iowa – An operational change at Jack Trice Stadium for the last two games of the season will allow Iowa State fans access to the entire facility once inside the gates via the atrium of the Jacobson Athletic Building.
"We're really excited to introduce this area to our fans starting with the Texas Tech game on Nov. 19 and the West Virginia game on Thanksgiving weekend," Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. "It will be the first time that this space is open on gameday and it will allow our fans – for the first time in the history of Jack Trice Stadium – to be able to go around the entire stadium inside the stadium."
Prior to this operational change, Cyclones fans were limited to whichever side of the stadium they entered (east – gates 1 & 2, south – game 3 or west –gates 4 & 5).
The new access coincides with the unveiling of a complete refurbished atrium inside the facility that celebrates some of the key moments, championships and student-athletes in ISU history.
Partnering with Dimensional Innovations of Kansas City, the athletics department has installed a number of new elements to supplement the two-year-old Louis Menze Hall of Fame space. Among the new pieces are…
- 24-foot-tall Cyclone-shaped element housing all of the school's Big 12 team championship trophies;
- Trophy cases with Big 12 Basketball Tournament trophies, several bowl trophies and individual trophies earned by Georges Niang, Betsy Saina, Marcus Fizer, Cael Sanderson, Lisa Koll and Brent Simmons;
- Colorful ceiling tiles honoring all 126 conference championships in Iowa State history;
- Suspended hanging letters spelling out "C-Y-C-L-O-N-E-S";
- Trophy case for the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Trophy; and
- Pylon with short descriptions about the school song, school colors, Cy and the school nickname.
Your game ticket provides access to the space on gameday. If you want to enjoy the space on a non-gameday, admittance is free. For a short video tour of the space, click here.
