Mitchell Meyers is one of six finalists for the Rare Disease Champion Award, given annually to a leader in college football who has realized his potential to make a positive and lasting impact on the rare disease community.
The award, which began in 2013, is presented by Uplifting Athletes to help raise awareness in the rare disease community.
A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Meyers was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in February of 2015. His courageous fight against the disease has inspired his teammates and the Iowa State community.
The winner of the 2016 Rare Disease Champion Award is determined by fan voting.
