Carleton Earns Second-Straight Big 12 Weekly Honor

IRVING, Texas - Iowa State freshman guard Bridget Carleton was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the fourth time in her career and the second-straight week, the league announced Monday. The Cyclones have captured Big 12 Freshman of the Week a total of five times, which is the most by any Big 12 team this season.
Carleton averaged 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds on the week. Against TCU, nabbed her fourth-career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Her 23 points were the most by a freshman in Big 12 play this season. The Chatham, Ontario, native also netted 15 points against Oklahoma and was just one rebound shy of a second-straight double-double.
Carleton is also leading all Big 12 freshmen in points (13.6) and rebounds (6.6) and is the leading candidate for Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
Iowa State is known for developing freshmen talent as the Cyclones have seen nine different players earn Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors over the last five seasons, while no other Big 12 school has had more than five.
Iowa State returns to the court on Tuesday, Feb. 2 when it takes on Kansas at 7 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan.
