- Iowa State hosts Texas Saturday as it looks to beat the Longhorns at Hilton Coliseum for the fifth consecutive game...UT's last win in Ames came in 2010...ISU is a game back of the Longhorns in the Big 12 standings.
- The Cyclones have wins against the teams currently ranked No. 3 (Oklahoma), No. 4 (Iowa) and No. 6 (Kansas) in the AP top-10...no other team has more wins against the top-10...ISU has won 21 games against ranked opponents in the last three seasons, which is second nationally in that time...no team has played more top-50 RPI teams this season than Iowa State (12).

- Monté Morris, a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, continues to be a rock for the Cyclones, leading the Big 12 in assists (7.2), steals (2.0) and assist-to-turnover ratio (5.4)...no player has ever led the league in all three stat categories in a season...Morris already owns two of the top-three assist-to-turnover ratios in NCAA history and is second nationally this season...against Tech, Morris eclipsed 1,000 career points.
- Morris has a 12.0 assist-to-turnover ratio in the last six games (48 assists-4 turnovers), while playing 242 of 245 possible minutes...he has 27 assists and one turnover the last three games.
- Iowa State has been without the services of Jameel McKay for the last two games as he served a suspension for violation of team rules...his status for Saturday's game is to be determined...McKay is averaging 12.4 points and 9.0 rebounds.
