AMES, Iowa - The 2016 Iowa State spring volleyball season begins tonight, or early Saturday back home, as the Cyclones take on Hawaii at midnight central, 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Christy Johnson-Lynch and her ISU volleyball team arrived on the islands last Saturday for a Spring Break training trip. Iowa State has practiced each morning before taking part in team activities, which have included trips to Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, the North Shore and a luau.
The Cyclones, who have appeared in 10-straight NCAA Volleyball Championships will face quite a challenge from the Rainbow Wahine. Led by Dave Shoji, the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Volleyball history, UH went 29-2 last year, earning a trip to the NCAA Des Moines Regional Final where they fell to Minnesota. The eight-time Big West champions finished 2015 ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Live stats of the action will be available from Hawaii,
