AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men's basketball players Monté Morris and Georges Niang have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 8 First-Team, announced today by the association.
Niang was also a first-team selection last season, while Morris garnered second-team honors a year ago.
Niang is averaging 20.2 points and 6.2 rebounds, while shooting 54.6 percent from the field and 39 percent behind the arc. In the last three games, the senior from Methuen, Massachusetts, is averaging 29.0 points and shooting 59.3 percent from the field.
Morris is posting 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists in his junior campaign. The Flint, Michigan, native, is one of just seven players nationally averaging at least 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.5 steals.
The duo leads the Cyclones tonight in the Sweet 16 against top-seeded Virginia in Chicago, Ill. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. (CDT). The game will be televised by CBS.
