AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team resumes spring volleyball action Saturday with a trip two hours West to Omaha to take on Creighton. First serve between the Cyclones and Bluejays will be at 4:30 p.m. inside D.J. Sokol Arena, and admission is free.
The two teams will do combined drills from 1-3 p.m. at D.J. Sokol Arnea before taking a break for lunch prior to the match. There will be no live video, or live stats for the exhibition.
Iowa State returns to competition two weeks after falling to Hawaii in four sets. The competition will continue to be intense as the host Jays are coming off their best season in program history. Head coach Kirsten Bernthan Booth guided CU to Big EAST regular season and tournament titles before taking the Bluejays to the program's first-ever Sweet 16 berth.
The Bluejays will have some work to do this spring, as they have to replace three graduating seniors from the 2015 squad. They are already beginning that process with the semester addition of ex-Purdue outside htiter/setter Lydia Dimke.
On the trip to Omaha, Iowa State will be without the services of
Samara West, who will miss the remainder of the spring season after knee surgery last week.
Christy Johnson-Lynch and her coaching staff have also elected not to play
Jess Schaben Saturday to help rest her right shoulder.
