AMES, Iowa - Cyclones.tv debuts its historical documentary “100 Years of Iowa State Wrestling” Tuesday at 6 p.m. CDT on Cyclones.tv.
The 2 ½ hour program covers the almost instant climb of Iowa State wrestling to national prominence from humble beginnings in 1916.
The program includes first-hand recollections of Olympic Gold Medalists Glen Brand, Dan Gable, Ben Peterson, Kevin Jackson, Cael Sanderson and Jake Varner. Interviews with former Iowa State coaches Jim Gibbons and Bobby Douglas are also included.
The documentary, more two years in the making, includes the stories behind Iowa State's eight NCAA championship teams including the six national title squads coached by the legendary Harold Nichols. Nichols incredible wrestling legacy is recounted in detail.
The Cyclones.tv production includes first hand memories of Iowa State national champions Ron Gray, Les Anderson, Larry Hayes, Gordon Hassman, Tom Peckham, Dale Bahr, Jason Smith, Frank Santana, Kelly Ward, Nate Carr, Tim Krieger, Stewart Carter, Eric Voelker, Jon Reader and more.
