The first season of the Steve Prohm era came to a close with Iowa State finishing 23-12 overall and a fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Prohm, the 20th coach in school history, helped the Cyclones reach their fifth Sweet 16, including the second in the last three seasons. ISU was 10-8 in Big 12 play.

- Iowa State finished the first season under head coach Steve Prohm with a 23-12 overall record and by earning the school's fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, extending on a school record...ISU advanced to its fifth Sweet 16 and second in the last three seasons.
- ISU won at least 20 games overall and posted double-digit Big 12 victories for a school-record fifth consecutive season...the Cyclones earned the school's second-ever win against a No. 1 foe when they beat Oklahoma at Hilton Coliseum on Jan. 18.
- The Cyclones were ranked No. 22 in the final Associated Press poll...the Cyclones have been ranked in a school-record 56 consecutive polls, the third-longest streak nationally (Kansas, Arizona)...ISU was No. 15 in the last USA Today Coaches Poll.
- ISU has won 22 games against ranked opponents the last three seasons, which is third nationally in that time.
- ISU led the Big 12 in scoring (81.8) for the fourth consecutive season and ranked third nationally...the Cyclones finished second nationally shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 22nd in 3-point field-goal percentage (38.7)...their field-goal percentage was the third-best in school history, while their 3-point field-goal percentage was the fourth-best at ISU.
- ISU's top six players each earned awards from the Big 12: Georges Niang (1st Team), Monté Morris (2nd), Jameel McKay (HM), Abdel Nader (HM) and Matt Thomas (HM) earned All-Big 12 honors...Deonte Burton was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and a member of the all-newcomer team.
- Niang was a consensus All-American and was the recipient of the Karl Malone Award, becoming the first Iowa State men's basketball player to win a national individual award...Niang was a second-team All-American by the AP, USBWA and NABC.
- Niang, ISU's first two-time All-American, led the Cyclones with 20.5 points per game, which was second among Big 12 players and 23rd nationally...his 2,228 career points are second in ISU history and are fourth in Big 12 history...Niang ended his career scoring in double figures in 44 consecutive games, including 20 or more points 17 times as a senior...Niang is just the fourth Division I player since 1994-95 to record 2,000 points, 700 rebounds and 400 assists...he concludes his career as the winningest player in school history (98 wins).
- Niang was the only player nationally to average 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and shoot 50 percent on field goals and 80 percent at the line...only 19 players (23 times) have done this since 1994-95...he was the first since Creighton's Doug McDermott (2013-14).
- Morris, who announced April 8 that he would return for his senior season, was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award...he led the Big 12 in assists (6.9) and assist-to-turnover ratio (4.2)...he was third nationally in assist-to-turnover, his third time ranking among the nation's top three in as many seasons...he broke Jeff Hornacek's single-season assist per game record and finished eighth nationally...he is the fourth Cyclone to dish out 200 assists in a season and finished three assists shy of Jamaal Tinsley's single-season record (241).
- Iowa State played much of the season without Nazareth Mitrou-Long, who shut it down after the eighth game as the hip surgery he had in the offseason caused lingering pain...enter Thomas, who hit a 3-pointer in 25 consecutive games, which is the third-longest streak in school history...Thomas finished second in the Big 12 averaging 2.5 threes made per game and shot 43.2 percent from behind the arc (fourth in Big 12).
- Nader was third on the team averaging 12.9 points and McKay rounded out the starting five by posting a near double-double average of 11.1 points and 8.8 rebounds...Burton, one of the top sixth men in the league, averaged 9.7 points.
