Iowa State Honors 2016 Graduates

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's Office of Student-Athlete Development hosted its annual graduation luncheon today for Cyclone student-athletes earning their diplomas. A slew of student-athletes will be among the estimated 4,500 Iowa State students graduating this weekend.

Graduating from Iowa State is a goal Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard wants every student-athlete to achieve.

“It's the most important award you can receive at Iowa State,” Pollard said about earning a diploma.

Academic success of Cyclone athletics is well-documented. This past academic year, over 75 student-athletes earned All-Big 12 Academic honors to date and over 180 Cyclones were recognized for their success in the classroom.

All-American Georges Niang (men's basketball) was named to the Senior Class Award team and a pair of Cyclones- Koree Willer (soccer) and Sammie Pearsall (gymnastics)- were named Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year in their respective sports.
