AMES, Iowa – Another challenging slate of matches awaits the Iowa State volleyball team in 2016 as head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch announced the Cyclones' schedule for the upcoming season Monday. ISU's schedule features 13 home matches, which includes visits to Hilton Coliseum by seven 2015 NCAA Volleyball Championship squads and two non-conference home tournaments.
For the third-straight campaign, the Iowa State schedule will begin in the friendly confines of Hilton Coliseum with the Iowa State Challenge. The Cyclones begin the season on Friday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. against Wichita State, the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament champions. ISU's second match will come on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. against Creighton. The Bluejays are the defending BIG EAST regular season and tournament champs, and advanced to the program's first-ever Sweet 16 last year. The Shockers and Bluejays will play on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. in Hilton.
The Cyclones will then make the trip West into Nebraska. The Cyclones will make their first ever visit to Omaha to take on the UNO Mavericks on Thursday, Sept. 1. ISU will then continue onto Lincoln for the Nebraska Invite to take on defending NCAA Champions Nebraska on Sept. 2, and Syracuse on Sept. 3.
ISU returns home on the second weekend of September for the Cyclone Invitational. ISU will begin the tournament on Friday, Sept. 9 with the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series meeting with Iowa at 6:30 p.m. The Cyclones will follow that up with a Sept. 10 doubleheader against North Dakota State (10 a.m.), and Montana (4 p.m.).
ISU will then head East for the yearly showdown against UNI in Cedar Falls on Sept. 13. The Cyclones will then head up to Milwaukee for the Marquette Invitational against 2015 NCAA Tournament squads Marquette (Sept. 16, 7 p.m.) and Missouri State (Sept. 17, 11 a.m.).
Iowa State opens Big 12 play on Sept. 21 at Kansas State, and will have its first Big 12 home match on Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. against TCU. Iowa State will welcome a pair of 2015 National Semifinalists to Hilton Coliseum during conference play in Kansas (Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m.) and Texas (Nov. 11, 4 p.m.). During the conference schedule, ISU will make a non-conference trip to South Dakota on Oct. 11, taking on the Coyotes in the brand new Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion. Iowa State will close out the regular season, home and Big 12 schedules on Nov. 26 against Oklahoma.
The NCAA Volleyball Championship First and Second Rounds will be Dec. 1-3 on campus sites, with the Regional Rounds on Dec. 8-10 being moved to campus sites after many years of pre-determined sites. Columbus, Ohio's Nationwide Arena will host the NCAA Volleyball Championships on Dec. 15 and 17.

Season ticket prices and information will be released at a later date, with season ticket renewals and new season ticket sales beginning on July 1.
