ROUND ROCK, Texas – The No. 23 Iowa State women's cross country team won its sixth Big 12 Championship in the last seven years on Saturday morning. The Cyclones scored 49 team points, which was 40 points better than second-place Oklahoma State (89).
The women were not alone in winning at Old Settler's Park. The Iowa State men brought home the men's Big 12 crown. This marks the first time since 1990 that both the men's and women's programs won titles in the same season.
As has been the case for the 2017 campaign, freshman Cailie Logue and junior Anne Frisbie led the Iowa State pack. Logue collected All-Big 12 honors with a fourth-place finish and a time of 20:14.9. For the second straight year, Frisbie was also all-conference, taking fifth in a time of 20:15.4
Joining Logue and Frisbie on the medal stand were freshman Amanda Vestri and junior Kelly Naumann. Vestri finished eighth with a time of 20:30.1, and Naumann took 14th in 20:48.6. Junior Evelyne Guay was the fifth scoring Cyclone with an 18th place finish in 20:56.2.
