OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Iowa State senior wide receiver Allen Lazard is one of 30 FBS candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate football.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I FBS senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
To determine the final Senior CLASS Award winner, the 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those names will be place on the official ballots.
A native of Urbandale, Iowa, the two-time co-captain is one of the greatest wide receivers in school history. Lazard holds school records in career receptions (194), 100-yard receiving games (9) and consecutive games with a reception (39).
His string of 39-straight games with a catch leads all active FBS players.
Lazard also ranks second in career touchdown receptions (19) and third in career receiving yards (2,660) in the Cyclone record book.
A First-Team All-Big 12 performer in 2016, Lazard currently leads the team and ranks fifth in the Big 12 in receptions per game at 6.0. He also has three TD receptions and 241 receiving yards on the season.
