EL PASO, Texas – The Iowa State tennis team (15-2, 1-0 Big 12) swept the UTEP Miners in the non-conference finale on Saturday by a score of 4-0.
Iowa State started the match by securing the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. The pairing of Maty Cancini/Sami Budai won for the Cyclones and Erin Freeman/Karen Alvarez got the win through forfeit.
The Cyclones then secured their 12th-straight win by way of singles.
Maty Cancini won in straight sets for Iowa State 6-3, 6-1. Erin Freeman and Karen Alvarez then won through forfeit to finish off the win for the Cyclones.
Iowa State will return to action next Friday when they head to Kansas to take on a pair of Big 12 foes. The Cyclones will play Kansas State on Friday and the Jayhawks of Kansas on Sunday.
