IRVING, Texas -Â The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today the members of the 2017 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
A pair of Cyclones made the list in linebacker Kane Seeley and defensive end Mitchell Meyers. Both ended their Cyclone careers in 2016 as starters on defense.
Seeley, who started 11 games this past season, was a four-time Academic All-Big 12 recipient in his Cyclone career. He tied for the team lead in tackles with 78 in 2016.
Meyers, a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District pick, was one of five Cyclones to start all 12 games a year ago.
A total of 1,089 players from 297 schools qualified for membership in the society's 11th year, both new single-year records in the history of the program.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society capitalizes on the NFF's National Scholar-Athlete program by greatly expanding the number of scholar-athletes the NFF can recognize each year. The program further strengthens the organization's leadership role in encouraging academic performance by the student-athletes who play football at the 777 colleges and universities with football programs nationwide.
