Eight Cyclones On National Award Watch Lists

AMES, Iowa – Eight members of the Iowa State football team were honored this summer by appearing on watch lists for national awards.
Sixteen different award watch lists were announced over a 10-day span in July and a Cyclone appeared on half of the award lists. Watch lists will be shortened throughout the season and this year's winners will be announced on Dec. 7 at the annual Home Depot College Football Awards, hosted by the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
The following national award lists included a Cyclone:
Rimington Trophy (nation's best center)
Julian Good-Jones (6-5, 293, So.#, Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
-Started 11 games on the offensive line as a freshman in 2016
Wuerffel Trophy (combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement)
Jake Campos (6-8, 300, Sr.#, West Des Moines, Iowa)
-Has the most career starts on the O-Line (23) and two-time First-Team Academic All-Big 12 recipient
Maxwell Award (nation's best player)
Jacob Park (6-4, 210, Jr.#, Charleston, S.C.)
-Had two 300-yard passing outings in the final five games of the 2016 season
Ray Guy Award (nation's best punter)
Colin Downing (6-0, 190, Sr., Whitefish Bay, Wis.)
-Ninth-best career punting average in school history (40.4)
Jim Thorpe Award (nation's best defensive back)
Kamari Cotton-Moya (6-2, 198, Sr.#, Bakersfield, Calif.)
-Second-Team All-Big 12 in 2016 and ISU's active career leader in tackles (190)
Paul Hornung Award (nation's most versatile player)
Trever Ryen (5-11, 193, Sr.#, Ida Grove, Iowa)
-Caught 37 passes in 2016 and is ISU's career leader in punt return average (16.0)
Biletnikoff Award (nation's best receiver)
Allen Lazard (6-5, 222, Sr., Urbandale, Iowa)
-Preseason All-American and First-Team All-Big 12 performer in 2016 with an 1,000-yard season
Doak Walker Award (nation's best running back)
David Montgomery (5-11, 219, So., Cincinnati, Ohio)
-Averaged 113.7 yards rushing in the last three games of 2016
