AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's 42-24 season-opening win over UNI had plenty of highlights, but Allen Lazard's record-setting night would certainly be at the top.
The senior wide receiver from Urbandale, Iowa wiped out three career marks in one night on Saturday, further enhancing his status as the greatest wideout in Cyclone football history.
The preseason All-American entered the game needing seven receptions to become ISU's all-time leader in that category. He accomplished the feat in the fourth quarter, ending the night with eight catches for 108 yards.
He now has 178 receptions in his career, ranking second among active NCAA FBS receivers and two better than Todd Blythe (2004-07) on ISU's all-time career reception list.

"This just shows what kind of consistency Allen has had over his four years," Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell said. "He's had tremendous sustained success. I couldn't be happier for him. Allen is also excited about the team's success, and he's doing a great job leading this team."
Lazard's 100-yard receiving game vs. the Panthers also helped him eclipse two more school records. In the 126-year history of Cyclone football, no player had ever recorded four-straight 100-yard receiving games until Lazard made it four in a row dating back to last season.
His receiving totals in the last four games are as follows: Kansas (120), Texas Tech (137), West Virginia (103) and UNI (108).
It was Lazard's ninth career 100-yard game, also establishing a new school standard.
