AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State Athletics Department has received a $2.5 million commitment, pledged over 10 years ($250,000 annually), from the Cyclone Gridiron Club to support construction of the recently approved Sports Performance Center.
The Sports Performance Center (SPC), which is expected to open in 2021, will transform the Iowa State student-athlete experience by consolidating academics, nutrition, sports medicine, strength & conditioning and practice facilities in a single complex. Newly released renderings for the estimated $90 million facility can be found here.
"We truly appreciate the Cyclone Gridiron Club Board of Directors' decision to direct part of their annual contribution to the Sports Performance Center project," Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. "A membership in the Gridiron Club is an ideal way for every Cyclone fan to participate in supporting the athletics department and football program by providing grass-roots funding for this much-needed facility."
Any fan of Cyclone athletics can become a member of the Cyclone Gridiron Club for as little as $100 annually. All membership dues support general, non-budgeted football expenses along with the club's 10-year commitment to the SPC.
The Cyclone Gridiron Club is the official booster club of Iowa State football and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose volunteer board members are committed to the mission of supporting the Iowa State football program.
Membership is available online at cyclonegridironclub.com/membership or by calling (515) 294-5022.
