MADISON, Wis. – The Iowa State men's cross country team posted its second consecutive top-10 performance at the NCAA Championships, finishing seventh today. The Cyclones received an exceptional individual output from junior Edwin Kurgat who finished third to earn All-America Honors.
With Iowa State's back-to-back seventh-place finishes at the national finals, the Cyclones have secured consecutive top-10 finishes for the first time since the 1993-94 seasons. It's also the first time since 1994-95 that Iowa State has had an All American in consecutive seasons.
Kurgat was exceptional individually. His third-place finish was the best by a Cyclone since Jonah Koech captured the individual title in 1990. Kurgat is Iowa State's 39th All American in school history.
The men's final was neck and neck to the finish. The top-three finishing times were all within seven tenths of a second. Ultimately, Kurgat would take third with a 10k time of 29:08.97
