• Iowa State heads back to friendly grounds as it faces Texas in the opening round of the Big 12 Championship...the Cyclones have won three of the last four league championships and own a 10-2 record in the Sprint Center since 2013-14...ISU is one of six schools nationally to win three of their league's last four titles (Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Gonzaga, Kentucky, New Mexico State).

• Iowa State looks to snap a six-game losing streak after falling at Oklahoma in the regular-season finale...the Cyclones are 4-0 this season in neutral site settings and 16-5 all-time under Steve Prohm on neutral courts...his 16 wins are the fourth-most by an ISU coach...Prohm coached his 100th game for the Cyclones in the season finale.
• Three Cyclone players earned recognition from the Big 12 when it handed out its season ending awards... Lindell Wigginton was named to the all-newcomer team while joining Donovan Jackson and Cameron Lard as All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selections.
• Iowa State boasts one of the top freshman duos in the nation in Wigginton and Lard...the pair makes ISU one of just three teams nationally, the others being Duke and Kentucky, to have two freshmen that averaged at least 14 points per game in conference action...Wigginton is averaged 17.7 points and Lard 14.2 points against Big 12 foes, ranking them both among the top-15 in scoring in conference games only...with 849 total points combined, they are already the highest scoring freshman duo in school history.
• Wigginton, a three-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honoree, is second among Big 12 freshmen in scoring average (16.6), above the ISU freshman scoring average record held by Curtis Stinson (16.2)...his 12 20-point games and 65 3-pointers made are an ISU rookie record....he is the first Cyclone rookie and eighth Big 12 freshman to score 300 points in league play...he needs just two points to score 500 this season...since 1980, only three freshmen have started every game for the Cyclones: Ron Harris (1980-81), Adam Haluska (2002-03) and Craig Brackins (2007-08) as Wigginton has done...he's averaging 23.0 points the last three games, scoring 20 last time out at Oklahoma.
• Lard, a redshirt freshman, is averaged 14.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in Big 12 games, while scoring in double figures in 14 of 18...Lard has posted double-doubles eight times overall, which is the third most by a freshman in school history...he is one of three freshman nationally and one of just eight players overall averaging 12-8-2...he has already set the ISU freshman record with 60 blocks, the first Cyclone to reach that mark in 13 years (Jared Homan, 2005).
•  Jackson has connected on 93 three-pointers this season, making him just the fifth Cyclone to hit 90 threes in a season...he is just nine shy of the ISU single-season record of 102 set by Dedric Willoughby (1996-97)...in his career, Jackson has 137 career 3-pointers (11th in school history)...he has made a three in 17 consecutive games...Jackson is second in the Big 12 shooting 87.5 percent at the line.
•  Zoran Talley Jr. is averaging 10.1 points since entering the starting lineup 10 games ago...Talley missed the first meeting with Texas as part of seven games he missed due to a stress fracture in his foot.
•  ISU has had a rash of injuries this season, with five of 10 eligible players missing a total of 36 games entering Wednesday's tilt...ISU has played just 10 of 30 games with all players available...the Cyclones will be without starters Nick Weiler-Babb and Solomon Young for the fifth consecutive game...Jackson is the only player available for Wednesday that has played significant minutes at the Big 12 Championship.

Iowa State-Texas Series Notes
• Iowa State and Texas meet for the 38th time with Texas holding a 21-16 edge in the series after sweeping the regular season...UT leads 2-1 in games played in Kansas City, but ISU won the last meeting in thrilling fashion in 2015...in that game, the Cyclones didn't lead until the buzzer sounded as Monté Morris hit a jumper to give the Cyclones the 69-67 win...ISU went on to win the championship that season, its second title in a row.
• Texas won this year's season series, winning 74-70 in overtime in Ames and 73-57 in Austin...Lard averaged 16.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks going head-to-head against UT's Mo Bamba (17 ppg-14.0 rpg-3.5 bph).
• Wigginton and Texas' Matt Coleman were teammates at Oak Hill Academy...their team went 79-6 in their junior and senior seasons, winning the Dick's Sporting Goods National Championship in 2016.

Last Time Out: Regular Season Ends With Loss At Oklahoma
• Oklahoma used a 7-0 run to close the first half to propel them to an 81-60 win in the season finale in Norman...ISU got 20 points from Wigginton, including one of the best dunks of the season that was No. 1 on Sports Center's top-10, to lead three players in double figures...Jeff Beverly finished with his first double-double as a Cyclone, scoring 11 points and grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds...ISU was just 3-for-23 from behind the arc and shot just 32.3 percent from the field.
ISU Conference Championship History
• The Cyclones are the No. 10 seed in this year's championship...this is the second time ISU has been the 10-seed, going 0-2 in those games.
• Iowa State has won nine of its last 10 games at the championship, winning the title in three of the last four seasons...the Cyclones won the title last season with wins against OSU, TCU and WVU.
