AMES, Iowa – A total of six Iowa State football players signed free agent contracts or earned NFL tryouts after the 2018 NFL Draft ended.
Wide receiver Allen Lazard (Jacksonville Jaguars), linebacker Joel Lanning (Dallas Cowboys), offensive lineman Jake Campos (Dallas Cowboys), wide receiver Marchie Murdock (Dallas Cowboys), linebacker Mackenro Alexander (Washington Redskins) and punter Colin Downing (Kansas City Chiefs) will enter rookie camps in the summer.
Lazard, a native of Urbandale, Iowa, is ISU's career leader in receptions (241) and receiving yards (3,360). He is a two-time First-Team All-Big 12 selection.
Lanning, who hails from Ankeny, Iowa, earned First-Team All-America honors at linebacker while gaining national notoriety for his incredible diverse skill set as a senior for Iowa State in 2017. He ranked in the top-40 nationally in tackles per game at 8.8.
Campos, a West Des Moines, Iowa native, was a Second-Team All-Big 12 pick in 2017. He ended his career with 36 starts.
Murdock, a native of Arlington, Texas, had 41 receptions for 513 yards and five touchdowns in 2017.
Downing, who is from Whitefish Bay, Wis., was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 pick in 2017 after averaging 40.6 yards per punt.
A native of Immokalee, Fla., Alexander recorded 24 tackles in 10 games in 2017.
