AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State volleyball team was picked to finish third in the 2018 Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Poll, released Thursday. This marks the 10th-consecutive season that the Cyclones have been picked to finish among the conference's top-four squads prior to the start of the season.
Iowa State is coming off its 12th-consecutive NCAA Volleyball Championship appearance in 2017, finishing with a 22-7 record overall, and third in the Big 12 with an 11-5 conference mark. The Cyclones return nine letterwinners from last season's team, led by 2017 AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans Hali Hillegas and Jess Schaben.
For the eighth-straight season, the league's coaches have chosen Texas to win the Big 12. Baylor was picked second.
The 2018 Iowa State volleyball season will begin on Friday, Aug. 24 at Hilton Coliseum when the Cyclones host Ole Miss as part of the Cyclone Invitational.
